Stems - Road ~

Though our upper end road bikes come standard with drop handlebars, Cycles BiKyle will happily convert any of our road bikes to upright riser handlebars. A very popular option, riser bars provide a more vertical position for the rider's upper body. Due to added wind resistance, this raised position is a bit less efficient than drop bars. And, it provides just one position for the hands. However, many riders find this position extremely comfortable. And, it's extra nice for negotiating traffic or seeing the scenery.

Upright conversion requires the following parts changes:

bulletHandlebars changed from drop style to flat, riser style
bulletShift levers changed to thumb triggers that match drivetrain
bulletBrake levers changed to flat bar with road brake leverage
bulletStem changed from 6 degrees to 12 for additional rise and better balance
bulletCables and housings changed to fit new brake levers and shifters
bulletBar tape changed to flat bar hand grips

Tire size ~

For added comfort and stability, especially on hard pack dirt or cinders, consider wider tires. There is only a $10/pair charge to swap stock 23mm tires to comparable quality tires in 25 or 28mm. Installation included. For proper frame clearance, we recommend the following maximum widths by frameset:

Make Model Max Width
Bianchi Infinito 28mm road or Pilot hybrid
Felt FC 28mm road or Pilot hybrid
Look 566 28mm road
Merckx LXM 25mm road
