Jim Thorpe ~

Located about 2 hours north of Philadelphia just off the Northeast Extension, Jim Thorpe offers some of the most scenic and challenging mountain biking to be found anywhere in the northeast. With more than a dozen official mountain bike trails, difficulty ranges from easy abandoned railroad grades to demanding technical singletrack. Many rides can be completed from the convenient historic downtown Jim Thorpe area. While in the town, stop at the local bike shop, Blue Mountain Sports, and purchase the nice little guide book to the area's mountain biking trails. It includes maps and directions to a dozen of the area's best routes and it costs just $6.95.
