All three Sram S Series wheels feature precision
alloy cartridge bearings that are smooth and
maintenance free. Not merely decorative, the
co-molded carbon end caps actually add to the hub's
strength. The hub design, borrowed from Zipp's 1080
wheels, features 17mm oversized axles designed to
spread the load as close to the dropouts as possible
for maximum stiffness. For the same reason, the
3-pawl rear hubs employ a radial spoke pattern on
the drive side to take advantage of the several
millimeters of spacing denied by laced patterns. The
cassette bodies are aluminum alloy for decreased
weight.
Sram Spokes ~
All three Sram S Series wheels are built with
stainless steel bladed spokes that are extremely
strong, yet easily replaced if ever needed - 18
front and 20 rear.
