Peter realized that that these new materials could not outdo mother nature. So, he and his wife, Patty, set out to improve on the proven: make wool, a time-tested performer with natural wicking and insulating properties, comfortable and convenient. And that is just what they did! They took the itch and shrink out of wool by making wool smart. The SmartWool process has worked so well in socks that they carried over the comfort and performance benefits into underwear, hats, gloves, and accessories.

	All SmartWool products start with high-grade Australian Merino wool and put it through a special process to create a knitted yarn that is soft and silky to the touch and won't shrink in the washing machine or dryer.
	Each SmartWool fiber contains thousands of micro-pores that wick, absorb, and evaporate moisture as well as insulate.
