Fixxer
Hub Converter ~
The Fixxer allows you to inexpensively and easily convert any Shimano
cassette hub (except Silent Clutch, post 2003 Dura Ace, or pre-1997 Dura Ace)
into a true fixed gear single speed hub. By simply removing the cassette body
and replacing it with the Fixxer adapter you can use a fixed cog for safe
coast-free riding. The Fixxer is a very popular conversion for track racers,
off-season trainers, fixed gear commuters, and bike messengers. The Fixxer
includes all parts necessary for installation including the axle, bearing,
cones, spacers, and axle nuts. Most hubs can be spaced to 120, 126.5, 130, or
135mm. So, it fits track frames, newer road frames, older road frames, and
mountain frames too!

can add a rear derailleur if you like! This is the perfect winter training bike

"Here's the most perfect bike we've seen: the
Country Road Bob made by Van Dessel Cycles in Dover, New Jersey. It's a simple,
elegant machine, light and responsive and indestructible, with just one gear and
no derailleurs to worry about. Riding this bike, you will rediscover the pure
happiness you felt when you first mastered a two-wheeler. How many things will
you buy in your lifetime that deliver that?" GQ Magazine, July 2005
Expected in May, 2008. The new Bobs
will have curved downtubes and color will remain the same as 2007, polished with green
contrast. The big difference (unlike the picture) is that the new ones will use
Avid BB5 disc brakes rather than cantilevers. The wheels will be all black and
will use quick releases instead of bolts. Due to the disc rotor, the rear wheel
will have threads only on the drive side - it will have reverse threads as well
and will come stock with a freewheel and a fixed cog with lock ring.
