An S & S bike uses special couplers installed in a
bicycle frame when
it's manufactured to allow it to
separate and pack for easy transportation. With this system, a full size road or
mountain bike will fit completely inside a single
26" x 26" x 10" case that travels as regular airline luggage. The
following accessories for specially designed for S&S bikes, but the frame pads
can be used on any bike.
S & S Hardcase ~
Provides the best protection for airline use. It has a silver-gray high density polyethylene shell, two locking latches, heavy
duty recessed ball bearing wheels and a flip out handle for easy pulling or
pushing. Case dimensions are 26" x 26" x
10" which meets the typical airline standard maximum size limit of 62"
combined (length + width + thickness) so you don't have to pay
"oversized" fees. Sorry, currently

10" Compression members ~
A compression member consists of two disks and a piece of plastic pipe. They
are used to keep pressure against the outside face of the case from damaging the
bicycle. The plastic disks hold them in place, but they are free to slide
sideways in the case to avoid added pressure against the bike if it shifts in
the case. We don't recommend
compression members with backpack cases as they can
twist and create damage. Price is per member and 4 are recommended per hard case.
