2006 Campagnolo ~
10 speed - Record, Chorus, and
Centaur
In 2007 Campagnolo made two important changes that effect compatibility.
First, they moved from square tapered bottom
brackets to external "UT" bottom brackets. Cranks made in 2006 or before
will NOT fit the new external bottom brackets. To continue using older parts you
will need to mesh pre '07 cranks and bottom brackets only to each other.
Second, Campagnolo moved to faster shifting left shift levers. These are
designated on the left Ergo lever with a QS which stands for
Quick Shift. The QS levers are only compatible
with QS front derailleurs. If you are using Ergo levers made in 2006 or before
then you must use the pre-QS Ergo levers and pre-QS front derailleurs
together.
Hubsets were also changed for 2007.
But, the older hubs are completely compatible with current cassettes and
drive chains.
We try to maintain a good stock of pre-2007 parts so those that
prefer to keep their older parts running can do so. See below.

Still available, Chorus and Centaur Ergo shifter/brake lever sets in 10
speed. These levers are the same for both double and triple chainring setups.
Both models work perfectly on all Campagnolo 10 speed systems: Record, Chorus,
Centaur, and Veloce. Must be used with a 2006 or previous "non-Quick Shift"
front derailleur (see below). Chorus features carbon fiber levers (pic on left)
while Centaur has aluminum (pic on right).
Centaur
Gray rear derailleur ~
The 2006 line featured a special gray anodized rear derailleur that works
in all Campagnolo 10 speed setups, both before and after 2006. It works with
cassettes up to 26 teeth. This is an excellent derailleur for riders that prefer
a real classic look.

Square Tapered Bottom Brackets ~
The Chorus bottom bracket spindle is 102mm long (center) and fits
either Record or Chorus square tapered cranks (all Campagnolo cranks made BEFORE
2007. The Record bottom bracket (on left) uses a carbon
composite shell that drops 43 grams in weight.
A Campagnolo or Shimano cassette tool is used to install or remove Record and
Chorus bottom brackets.
The Centaur BB (right in pic) is 66 grams
heavier than Chorus and uses a less reliable wrench system to install or remove.
To save weight, the Centaur spindle is hollow; you can look right through it! As it is 111mm long, it can only be used with Centaur and Veloce cranks, not
Record or Chorus.
All models and sizes still available!
2006 Square Tapered
Aluminum Cranksets
~
The Chorus crank is cold forged of very clean and
consistently grained
light aluminum alloy and weighs just 647 grams yet it is extremely strong and
dependable. The pedal hole is pierced during construction for much greater
strength than drilling. The 5th spider arm is milled right out
of the main crankarm for more strength and beauty. The Record crank is just like
the Chorus except that it adds light alloy fixing bolts as well as a new surface
treatment to the chainrings for even greater durability. The Centaur crank
(pictured) has all 5 spider arms visible.
 | Chorus and Record require 102mm Chorus or Record
tapered bottom
bracket |
 | Centaur crank requires 111mm Centaur or Veloce tapered bottom
bracket |
 | 170, 172.5, and 175mm lengths, plus 180 in Record |
All Campagnolo cranks feature "Ultra-Drive"
10 speed chainrings with precisely machined teeth and shifting ramps for the fastest,
smoothest shifting on the planet. Record and Chorus
aluminum cranks were made in 53 x 39 tooth
chainrings only; compacts are NOT available in these two models unless you move
to carbon arms (see below). Centaur = 53 x 39 or 50 x 34 tooth chainrings, select below:
Still available: all models in 53 x 39 except
Chorus in 172.5. The ONLY compact still available is Centaur in 172.5.
Record 180 53 x 39 is available! Put note in
"Special Instructions" field when ordering. Sorry, 177.5 is sold out.

Square Tapered Carbon Cranksets ~
Over 5 years in development and testing, the
Campagnolo Carbon
cranks are a masterpiece of modern cycling technology. Weighing nearly a pound
less than the already very light Record AL crank, the Carbon crank is truly a
stunning work of art as well as the finest performing crank on the market. These
cranks use Multidirectional Carbon Fiber (MDCF), a new composite technology
recently introduced in the aerospace industry. MDCF distributes the carbon fiber
in all directions for greatly increased strength. For even greater security,
Unidirectional Carbon Fiber (UDCF) has been judiciously positioned to further
enhance the already outstanding mechanical performance of these beautiful
cranks. Weight is just 500 grams.
 | Record carbon crank = 500 grams |
 | Chorus carbon crank = 515 grams |
 | Centaur carbon crank = 583 grams |
 | Record aluminum crank = 632 grams |
 | Chorus aluminum crank = 647 grams |
 | Centaur aluminum crank = 660 grams |
Apart from the label, the Record and Chorus crankarms are
exactly the same. The only difference is in the chainrings. The Record rings
have a new treatment that increases resistance to wear and tear. Centaur uses
Chorus chainrings and the crankarms are the same except they fit only the 111 mm
Centaur bottom bracket. Record and Chorus fit both Record and Chorus bottom
brackets.
Available in traditional 53 x 39 or compact 50 x 34, select below

Front Derailleurs ~
These front derailleurs work with all Campagnolo Pre-2007
shift levers - 9 and 10 speed. Combined with Campagnolo machined chainrings and proper
adjustment, the Chorus front
derailleur (on right) will provide nearly countless miles of fast, trouble free shifting.
The Record model (on left) is 5 grams lighter as it uses an extra stiff and
fast carbon fiber outer cage plate. Centaur, which uses less fancy finishing bolts, weighs
11 grams more than Chorus.
FIT: Brazed on front derailleurs are used when
your frame has a corresponding hanger (pictured on right) permanently or
attached to the frame. They are also used with the
clamp-on BO adapters pictured below. If you require the front derailleur to
clamp to your bike then carefully measure the outside diameter of your frame's
seat tube at the level of your large chainring.
Tip: All Campy
10 speed front derailleurs work on 9 speed setups. Just unclip the plastic
insert on the front of the outer cage plate to widen the cage.
Available for both regular (53 x 39) chainrings and compacts, select
below!
Centaur braze-on regular has sold out. All other
models and sizes still available!
